J. Hinch immediately sent out Héctor Rondón to face Betts, who doubled to center, scoring Devers to extend their lead to three runs. Craig Kimbrel pitched the ninth, allowing a two-out double by Springer and a José Altuve RBI single to bring the Astros to within 7–5. Kimbrel then retired Alex Bregman, who flew out to Benintendi to end the game, earning his third save this postseason, and tying the series at one all.
This World Series set a new record for most players to hit a home run . With the teams combining to score 25 runs throughout the game, this was the highest scoring World Series game since the Florida Marlins defeated the Cleveland Indians 14–11 in Game 3 of the 1997 World Series. Game 5 lasted five hours and seventeen minutes, making it the second-longest World Series game in history by time.
American League Championship Series
Gurriel apologized, and said that anyone from Asia is called a chino in Cuba, although he acknowledged knowing that the term was offensive in Japan from having played there. As a result, Rob Manfred, the Commissioner of Baseball, suspended Gurriel for the first five games of the 2018 MLB season without pay, but allowed him to continue playing in the World Series. The 113th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff played between the National League champion Los Angeles Dodgers and the American League champion Houston Astros. Before these three series, there hadn't been a postseason series between 100-win teams since the 1977 ALCS. That's zero from 1978 to 2016, then three in the 2017 and 2018 postseasons combined.
With his work in this Series, Davis set a new record for postseason games umpired in American major league history, with 115. The Astros had home-field advantage for the series, due to having a better regular-season record than the Nationals. It was the third World Series in which home-field advantage was decided by the regular-season records of the American and National league champions, a practice that started in the 2017 season. It was the first World Series in which the Houston Astros had home-field advantage. The series was played in a 2–3–2 format, with the Astros hosting Games 1, 2, 6, and 7; and the Nationals hosting Games 3, 4, and 5.
WTC points at stake as India take guard in Chattogram
The approach of the top-order was the biggest concern in T20Is. He still is one of India's top run-scorers in ODIs but does he score quickly enough? The bowling too lacks ideas whenever there is a big partnership. They could not break the last wicket stand in the first ODI and then Bangladesh off the hook with a mammoth seventh wicket stand in the 2nd ODI. In the absence of Rohit, will Kohli once again walk out to open with Dhawan.

In a series, which saw the return of heavyweights such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, it has been Bangladesh's Mehidy Hasan Miraj, who has been dictating the proceedings. The Bangladesh lower order batter is leading the batting charts and has also chipped in well with the bowl. The Indian bowlers let the two games slip from winning positions. Bangladesh were out of sorts in both the encounters, however, the bowlers failed to capitalised, which in turn saw the hosts not just recover and put them in a strong position. Meanwhile, Litton Das, who took a stunner in the series opener has missed a dolly at short mid-wicket. Virat Kohli survives on 1 and hits Mehidy Hasan for a four in the next ball.

The trade was very unpopular among Red Sox fans, as Betts was seen as the Red Sox best player and one of the biggest stars in baseball. Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts were teammates on the Dodgers in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Although they did not play together on the Red Sox, both managers played and won a World Series championship with Boston—Roberts in 2004 and Cora in 2007.

The Nationals finished the 2018 season with an 82–80 (.506) win–loss record, and started the 2019 season with a 19–31 (.380) record. Second-year manager Dave Martinez began to receive public pressure to be fired by the Nationals. The team engineered a turnaround and finished the season in second place in the National League East, four games behind the Atlanta Braves, ending the year with a 93–69 (.574) record. The Nationals were one of two teams to qualify for the playoffs as a wild card team from the National League. Martinez had missed three games in September due to a cardiac catheterization procedure to treat angina.
Los Angeles Dodgers Pitching
Pederson hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning and Jansen pitched two scoreless innings for the save, forcing a winner-take-all game seven. Pederson tied a World Series record with his fifth consecutive game with an extra base hit. Andre Ethier, who appeared in the game as a pinch hitter, set a new Dodgers franchise record with his 50th career postseason game. The 2018 World Series would be the peak for the 2016–2018 Red Sox, who were the first Red Sox teams in franchise history to win the American League East for three straight seasons. President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski was fired on September 9, 2019, just 10 months after winning the 2018 World Series. On the field, Boston's top three starters in 2018 — Chris Sale, David Price, and Nathan Eovaldi — all missed significant time due to injury in 2019.
Game 6 in Houston was then won by the Astros, giving them the series win, four games to two. The Astros' ALCS victory advanced them to their third overall World Series appearance (2 in the American League & one in the National League), and second in three years. Innings.Bellinger then drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the top of the ninth off of Giles and the Dodgers added four more runs on a sacrifice fly by Austin Barnes and a three-run homer by Pederson.
Betts led baseball in batting average and slugging percentage, while Martinez led in runs batted in. Sale tossed only 158 innings due to a shoulder injury late in the year, but was otherwise superb, posting a 2.11 earned run average to go along with 237 strikeouts. Kimbrel saved 42 games and struck out 96 batters in 62.1 innings. Because of the addition of a wildcard game, the National League Division Series between the Giants and Reds began with two games in San Francisco. Cincinnati, who posted a better won-lost record than the Giants, hosted the final three games.

This was the Giants' 22nd NL pennant overall, their fifth as the San Francisco Giants. This was the fifth World Series in which the Giants faced a team from the American League Central Division . A George Springer home run to open the bottom of the third cut the lead to 3–2. Altuve then doubled, and was later driven in on a single by Reddick, evening the score, 3–3. A homer by Tony Kemp in the bottom of the fourth put the Astros ahead, 4–3.
The Astros won their first World Series game in franchise history as they had been swept in their previous appearance in 2005. Houston restored their two-run lead in the top of the fifth, as Altuve doubled and was then batted in by Brantley. Greinke left with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, having allowed one run on seven hits while striking out six batters.

However, Commissioner of Baseball Rob Manfred opted against punishing any of the players involved or revoking the Astros' World Series title. This was the first World Series in which home-field advantage was decided by the regular season record of the two pennant winners. From 1903 to 2002, home-field advantage had been determined by coin flips and by alternating between the AL and NL. From 2003 to 2016, it was determined by results from that season's All-Star Game, when it was awarded to the team from the winning league.
